Which Medium has the most impact? Throughout the course we learned and used a variety of Mediums such as interactive video lessons (PlayPosit), a novel, movies, lecture, discussions--both written and video, essay, and poetry. The Medium which I found the most impactful would be the movie. I found this the most impactful because of the following reasons: Time, environmentally friendly, more engaging and because visualization is more powerful than imagination. Movies can condense a long novel into a enjoyable 1-2 hour movie whereas it can take multiple days to read a novel depending on your reading speed. In one year, 2 billion books are produced. To keep up with the demand 32 millions trees must be cut. Movies can make you understand and go deeper into the storyline due to seeing instead of imaging whats happening.
Is there any Medium that had a greater impact in tackling this topic? No, I found that the movie had the greatest impact in tackling the issue of Racism and Stereotype. What is the message to be learned about racism and stereotyping? Does the Medium play a role in making this message clear or obscuring it? The message to be learned about racism and stereotyping is that racism and stereotyping affects many people across the world. In this course we learned about the struggles african american individuals face on a daily basis. The movie made the message clear throughout the movie. Some parts that were the most impactful were when Khalil died, the criminal justice system and the protests that took place.

Ethos is the ethical appeal
Pathos is the emotional appeal Logos is the logical appeal Ethos: Students in high school are mature enough and understand the position they will be voting for. Logos: While many might say that teens are not mature enough to vote, many teens may be mature enough to vote for someone.
My favourite Spoken Word poetry between the bunch is ̈"Can We Auto-Correct Humanity?̈ by Prince Ea . I find this my favourite because it relates to me and because it's the most modern one. The video explains how we have become further apart from friends and family instead of closer using social media. Also, the video explains why we should spend less time on our digital devices when we can enjoy memories without them.
I would measure Spoken Word poetry by its ability to move. I think poetry can be used to be a way to express your feelings about something and the better you express those feelings the more it will move someone. Why do you think riots happen? What are the people trying to express? Why does it get out of
hand? Are riots an effective means of protest? I think riots start when people are frustrated about something or someone. People at riots try to express the way they feel about something and what should have been done. I think riots get out of hand because most riots are not properly organized. Also, because of some people getting out of hand. An example of this is when people at the riot for Kahlil start to flip cars, break storefronts and burn objects. I think riots can be effective if done peacefully but can be ineffective if done violently. Toronto has the Cavalcade of Lights to kick off the holiday season whereas Sweden has Gävle Goat. For 53 years a 13 meter tall goat gets built in the center of Gävle’s Castle Square. This Swedish tradition has led to another unwittingly tradition. This tradition includes trying to burn the goat down. It has been burnt 29 times.

This could also have a significant affect on your final grade. In Hasan's video essay about police misconduct he talks about how the police system is broken and that it should be fixed. Hasan interviews many police officers and a law professors to find out how the police are being taught and what part makes the system broken. Hasans research concludes that the police use fear based tactics which may not always work. Many innocent people like Philando Castile end up getting killed due to this practice. Hasans research also concludes that police have more power which they can use in the wrong way. Many police officers which kill or hurt innocent people usually don't get any charges laid on them. Why isn't everyone using reusable water bottles? Over 60 million plastic water bottles end up in landfills everyday. Re-using water bottles is not only helping the environment its also saving you money.
I do not agree with the idea of photojournalists influencing or altering an image. In the photo essay “Starving Child and Vulture” I would have not helped the child knowing the child had a disease. Altering the picture would make the photo bias and not show the reality. I think photojournalists are not responsible for people they photograph and shouldn’t alter or influence an image in any way.
